OK, mixing up the panel borders again. I AM liking the results I'm getting with the new ink, and the crow quill.
Thanks to everyone who's been commenting! Not a lot of productivity or time for the site this week, though I got four more pages drawn. The school year is over but I'm working as an at-home grader for a certain nation-wide test, and... wow. I'm grading free-response questions morning, noon, and night. Won't be a real hitch -- I've got p[ages lined up through mid-December.
I always enjoy your work. What are some of your artistic influences? I see U.S. underground, European comics, maybe some Sergio Arragones and a touch of Matt Howarth. Am I way off?
Not off at all. Add in old B&W adult comics like Cherry Poptart and (especially) Phil Foglio's XXXenophile. And it doesn't show up a lot in my style per se, but I'm a big admirer of the craft of manga artists -- the old-school pen-on-paper linework. Howarth in particular is a god of linework... I love his highly detailed but still clean line and detailed crosshatching. I think I'd put Moebius, Bernie Wrightson, and Frank Cho into the "aspirational" influences category, too. My stuff sure doesn't look like theirs, but their B&W work inspires the heck out of me.
