Now I'm torn on whether I should fix "remiving mistakes" or leave it as it ----- I mean, that was OBVIOUSLY intended as an example of EXACTLY the sort of typo I catch at this stage.

I actually do professional editing on the side, and... EVERYONE needs an editor. I can NOT be certain my own stuff doesn't have errors in it until someone who is not me reads it. You can't see your own errors.
