I think I lampshaded the joke a bit here (þ, that is, son).

Hey, can we talk about my Patreon?
Producing this webcomic for a pace of four updates takes a lot of time... and it's not cheap for me, what with paper, ink and pens (going all digital would be even more spendy). A little support would help defray costs and make sure I can justify spending money on art supplies and taking time away from the money-earning grind. Everyone gets access to high-rez sketches, and there will be some special bonuses and behind-the-scenes art connected to Star Warp (coming up soon). Higher levels of support get original art, a reduced rate on commissions, and other goodies. If you can help out with a minimum of $3 a month (or a little more... or set a custom pledge, I'm not picky) please check it out right here (and the widget is always available above). Heck, even if you can't pledge check it out - there's some art there unlocked for everyone, and I'd appreciate feedback on the levels and the premiums I'm offering.

I don't even know how to type þ on Linux. I'm sure it can be done, but short of a Google search I don't know.

-three minutes later-

All right, being the completist I am I had to look it up. It's "Compose" followed by "t" then "h" unsurprisingly. þ

<AltGr>p -> þ
<AltGr>P -> Þ

þ as a single letter would get rid of things like "T-that's enough" which should obviously be written as "Th-that's enough". You cant do that with "Þ-þat's enough".
English does already have foreign letters, see "façade" and "fiancé", why not get the þ back!?

That's for Windows, and requires either a special keyboard or secondary software installed or both. In Mac OS it's simply the "Option" key, and may or may not require multiple secondary keys. On a Linux computer you have to enable the "Compose" key, which can be mapped to any number of places (Mine is the right-alt key, since I've swapped the left control and alt keys.) It then almost always requires two keystrokes.

Therefore on my keyboard:
Compose (right-alt) then ' then e = é
Compose then " then u = ü
Compose then ~ then n = ñ
Compose then ^ then i = î

And so forth. Useful for tricking censorship functions on some web sites.

I also have a character function with a graphical interface if I need something weird, which also includes emoji, objects, and math symbols. ★ ☢ ♁ ⚤ ♬ ✔

No, I have antiX Linux running here. Btw., what's yours?
It's an external USB keyboard. Hm. I can do the é with hitting ´ and e in a row, î and í too, some keys are dead keys. But not the ñ. But ¡ and ¿ are possible via right Alt (AltGr).

There are different menus under some special keys, I'd loose them if I re-dedicate a key to be Compose. The right Alt is named AltGr and gives me access to the 3rd level on the keyboard (2nd level via Shift). Maybe I could use right Ctrl.

I'm using both Elementary OS (on my desktop) and MX Linux (on my laptop.) Eventually I'm going to switch to MX Linux for my desktop too, when I feel like making the whole transition. MX Linux uses some antiX Linux components, but is basically Debian at its core. (Well, so is Ubuntu and Elementary and a lot of others.)

I've been using Elementary OS for years, but the new update to "Odin" just made me mad so I'm stuck in "Hera." The maintainers of Elementary really really want you to do things only their way. Odin just basically makes it impossible to modify the system to do things the way I like to do them. It's a very restrictive OS. MX Linux uses xfce so it's really easy to configure.

That said, I also have an Odroid XU4 doing duty as a media player that's running Ubuntu Mate which I have come to accept as well. The Mate desktop environment is a fork of Gnome 2, which I find acceptable. I really don't like Gnome 3.

Þis is now þe longest comment þread on þis site.

Also, you can't really understand þe history of Middle Earþ unless you understand þe importance of þe þ --> s consonantal shift in þe years before þe first age.

Awaiting "That's the joke" or "whoosh" somehow, but monkeys are not really primates ;)

Speech becoming politicised is totally believable. Because it happens.

So, could they have been the Thilmatils or was that always from an /s/ root?

See, they had a point.

I like "What's a letter?"
